The Role
As a Network Operator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the contract to manage and operate Skynet, the UK Ministry of Defence’s military satellite communications system and ground stations.

Day-to-day, you’ll support Babcock customers globally, using the Skynet constellation of satellites. Your role will provide first-line technical solutions/fault investigations for Ministry of Defence’s customer incidents within the Skynet Network.
Performing health checks of the network and underlying infrastructure.

  • Provide 1st line investigations within the Skynet Network for both Radio Frequency (RF) and Baseband.
  • Complete set-ups and testing of new user accesses.
  • Generating reports to validate network state and inform customers.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This role is full time, 39 hours per week (12-hour shift, 2 days, 2 nights) and is based on site at Corsham, Wiltshire.

Essential Experience of the Network Operator

  • Broad understanding of data communications.
  • Good IP switching and routing skills.
  • Broad exposure to the telecommunications industry in general.
  • Exposure to / familiarity with satellite communications systems.
  • CISCO certified technician or equivalent would be beneficial.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
