The Role
As a Network Operations Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a pivotal role in supporting, managing and operating the Baseband element to the Skynet contract. The successful candidate will join a small team of engineers supporting Babcock customers globally.

Day-to-day, you’ll be providing specialist technical knowledge and support to a range of terrestrial networks.
You will interact with several support groups and third-party organisations to effectively triage, troubleshoot, and resolve customer network issues.

  • Assistance with customer enquiries.
  • Investigation of network faults and incidents as and when reported by the customer.
  • Perform health checks on networks and underlying infrastructure.
  • Respond to network issues as highlighted by the Fault Management System.
  • Liaise and assist the third line support team with network issues.
  • Accurate reporting of faults using established ticketing systems.
  • Generate customer reports as and when directed by the Service Management team.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Corsham, Wiltshire.
In this role, you’ll be required to be on call (weekday evenings, weekends).

Essential Experience of the Network Operations Engineer

  • Experience within a Network Operations environment or Network Management Centre.
  • Exposure to first and second line support networking practices.
  • Good IP switching and routing skills to include VLAN, STP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
  • Broad exposure to the telecommunications industry.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills and team player prepared to work flexibly.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, you may be required to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance once in post.
