Join our Network Service Operations team as a Network Operations Engineer and help us transform DWP's datacentre and remote site network infrastructure.

Our DWP Digital teams use innovative ideas and leading-edge technology to build and maintain digital solutions used by nearly every person in the UK, every day, and at key moments in their lives.

DWP is the UK's largest government department, assisting people into work and making payments worth over £195bn annually to support and empower millions.

The scale of our work is extraordinary, involving complex challenges, and our purpose is unique. We invite you to join us.

What skills, knowledge, and experience will you need?
  • Problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, with the ability to think critically, creatively, and independently to resolve issues.
  • Strong planning and implementation methodology.
  • Experience with ITSM processes.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure including Wifi, on-premise datacentres, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/OCI), Next Generation Firewalls, Load-balancing, and PKI technologies. Experience with Aruba Wifi/Clearpass or Spine and Leaf topologies/DC-VXLAN (preferably Arista).
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools.
Your role and responsibilities

We have several projects in Wi-Fi, on-premise datacentres, and cloud solutions requiring skilled, self-sufficient engineers to drive improvements, ensure best practices, and maintain stability of legacy infrastructure.

You will support incident and problem resolution, and implement standard service management exercises, which may include out-of-hours work.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to effectively interact with employees at all levels and third-party suppliers.

You will also conduct network monitoring and analysis using tools such as BMC Entuity, Wireshark, and NetScout.
