Why this role matters

What’s the role all about?

Our technician role is an entry level traineeship, aimed at inexperienced candidates or people interested in a career change. The role involves electronics engineering and/or radio engineering.

Electronics engineering includes build, maintenance, and repair activities in our exchanges, data centres, or switch sites, such as installing fibre cabling or repairing network equipment. Radio engineering involves maintaining and repairing radio equipment at various sites, including challenging rural locations or high-rise buildings.

The specific tasks and skills will vary based on location, and the hiring manager will discuss this during the interview.

Attendance may include work five days a week from six, excluding Sundays, and may require working up to 12 Saturdays per year.

Responsibilities:

Field Engineering:

  • Prioritize health and safety, comply with ISO standards.
  • Create an inclusive environment supporting diversity.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Work independently considering safety, collaborating with team members.
  • Complete learning milestones as per development portfolio.
  • Maintain performance and compliance standards.
  • Ensure work aligns with documented procedures and customer requirements.
  • Support site performance and reliability.

Lead by example, support team members, and uphold company values.

Key Decisions:

  • Support site ownership and team objectives.
  • Coordinate work priorities with managers.
  • Conduct risk assessments and escalate issues.

Ensure compliance with health surveillance and presentability standards.
