Job summary

Hutchison Technologies Ltd in Dundee is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, and support our network infrastructure. You will work across LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and security while maintaining high availability and performance.

You will collaborate with IT teams, external providers, and customers to deliver reliable networking solutions. A strong background in TCP/IP, routing, monitoring tools, and SD-WAN is essential for success.

Qualifications

Demonstrable and significant experience in a Network Engineer/Administrator role.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, IP addressing, VLANs, DHCP, DNS.
Experience configuring routers and switches.
Experience with firewalls and security technologies.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPN technologies.
Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, Aruba, Meraki.
Experience with routing protocols (OSPF/BGP/EIGRP).
Experience with SD-WAN and network monitoring tools.
Ability to read network diagrams and technical docs.
Able to work in live, high-availability networks.
Good problem-solving skills and root-cause analysis.
UK driving license.

Responsibilities

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, and wireless.
Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and access points.
Design and assist with new networks and infrastructure.
Monitor performance, availability, and reliability; resolve issues before impact.
Diagnose and resolve connectivity, performance, and security issues.
Maintain VLANs, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and core services.
Configure and maintain firewall policies, security controls, and remote access.
Support site-to-site and remote VPN deployments.
Respond to network incidents and drive to resolution.
Support upgrades, migrations, and hardware refresh projects.
Perform change management to minimise disruption.
Investigate recurring issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
Maintain network documentation and diagrams.
Liaise with ISPs, telecoms, and third parties.
Collaborate with teams to deliver network projects.
Assist deployment and commissioning of new network infrastructure.
Ensure security, availability, reliability, and best practices.
Stay aware of industry trends and emerging networking tech.
