Job summary

A global consultancy is seeking a Network Engineer to contribute to a significant government project based in Barrow-in-Furness. Responsibilities include creating high-level designs, configuring core infrastructure, conducting surveys, and installing network components. Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in Cisco networking and network architecture. This role requires working in secure environments and offers a PAYE through an umbrella agency.

Qualifications

• Experience with Network Architecture and Design.
• Familiarity with secure network environments.
• Proven skills in Cisco networking and data centre management.

Responsibilities

• Input into High Level Designs.
• Create Low Level designs from approved High Level Designs.
• Configure core infrastructure components and perform impact assessments.
• Plan and conduct surveys for network distribution areas.
• Install new networks equipment and conduct pre-testing.

Overview

Network Engineer

Location: Office - Barrow In Furness LA14 1AF

Duration: 31/12/2025

MUST BE PAYE THROUGH UMBRELLA

We are heading up a recruitment drive for a global consultancy that require a XXX to join them on a major government project that's based remotely.

Responsibilities

• Inputting into High Level Designs
• Creating Low Level designs from approved High Level Designs
• Configuring core infrastructure components e.g. Data Centre Fabric, Access/Distribution Switches, Routers, WAN, Firewalls, load balancers, Authentication Servers, Wifi controllers, management tooling
• Performing impact assessments on large or complex networks
• Performing testing to pre-determined plans and analyse results
• Planning survey's/surveying for cross/site distribution areas (Fibre) - checking for cabling power/space (photos to be taken)
• Installing new SDA Switches in readiness for OOH work for installation/take on and testing of kit, providing ELS and decom/removal of old Switches
