Job description

Network Engineer

A leading consultancy is seeking a Network Engineer to undertake a range of network equipment installations and configuration activities for complex or high business impact solutions. Starting ASAP, paying between £50-55k base annum.

Contract Type: Permanent
Hybrid working: Bristol

If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service).

Your role

  • Performing infrastructure surveys, for both wired and wireless.
  • Configuring core infrastructure components e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, etc.
  • Performing impact assessments on large or complex networks.
  • Performing testing to pre-determined plans and analysing results.
  • Compliance with a stringent change management process, where levels of accuracy of proposed implementation activities will be subject to the fullest review and delivery must follow the agreed plan.

Your skills and experience

  • A good working knowledge of IP, Ethernet, routing and switching within LAN/WAN/Data Centre/Public Cloud environments is essential.
  • Practical and demonstrable experience of implementing Cisco ACI would be beneficial.
  • Significant experience of configuring network systems, switching, routing, firewalling, and load balancing.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of networks including network security, virtual private networking (VPN), converged networks, and broadband technologies.
  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN/Voice network infrastructures for enterprise organisations.
  • Typically qualified to Cisco CCNA level or vendor equivalent accreditations.
  • Experience of working in a secure, accredited environment with a strong governance model.
  • Experience of automation/orchestration: network stack integration, Terraform, Ansible, Python, JSON, APIs.
  • Experience with key vendors, primarily Cisco (IOS, NX-OS, ACI), F5 (LTM, GTM, ASM), Palo Alto, Fortigate, Checkpoint, Juniper, Azure, Amazon, and Google Cloud; other vendor experience is welcome and beneficial.
