We are expanding UK IT support team by hiring a Network Engineer to own, troubleshoot and resolve complex network and infrastructure incidents within a mission critical 24/7 semiconductor manufacturing environment.

What a Network Engineer will do:

Nexperia Manchester employs over 1,000 people across Production, Engineering, and Site Support Services, working together to produce over 14,000 semiconductors each week. As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in keeping our site wide networks running without interruption to our manufacturing capability. You will leverage strong technical expertise across Cisco technologies and ITIL practices to maintain secure and highly available network services across the site. You will collaborate across teams locally and globally to deliver continuous improvements that enhance resilience, and you will get the chance to contribute to the strategic technical roadmap by driving modernisation and innovation.

Other key responsibilities Include:

  • Reviewing system logs, diagnostic data, and network monitoring tools to identify root causes.
  • Implementing effective corrective actions, ensuring minimal disruption to fab operations.
  • Taking ownership for problem resolution tasks and collaborating cross-functionally to drive service resilience.
  • Influencing technical decisions and strategic initiatives with subject-matter expertise.
  • Developing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation (MS Visio, MS Word, Confluence) accessible by all team members.
  • Reviewing team-generated documentation and coach others to produce standards-compliant deliverables.
  • Adopting an agile, continuous learning mindset, seeking feedback and self-development.
  • Achieving and maintaining intermediate-level industry certification(s) (e.g. CCNA/CCNP).
  • Implementing best practices around design, configuration, security, and problem-solving.

What a Network Engineer will need:

Essential Requirements:

  • CCNA/CCNP qualification or equivalent experience; CCIE or advanced Cisco certifications highly regarded.
  • Experience with ServiceNow ticketing and service management processes.
  • Ability to design, implement, and support scalable, secure Cisco LAN/WAN/WLAN/DC networks.
  • Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and Layer 2/3 design with a deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, QoS, MPLS, VPNs, VLANs, and IP subnetting.
  • Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches; SAN and DC networking experience.
  • Check Point and/or Cisco ASA firewall experience and Cisco wireless networking (WLC, APs).
  • Cisco ISE, Prime Infrastructure management tools, and experience in MPLS and observium monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service management processes.
  • Willingness and aptitude for learning new systems and advancing skillset individually and as part of a team
  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom without the need for visa sponsorship.

Desirable Skills

  • Degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is an advantage
  • Experience with F5 BIG-IP load balancers and related administration.
  • Exposure to SD-WAN technologies.
  • Prior work with Cisco ASA Firewalls.
  • Knowledge of advanced Load Balancing techniques.
  • ITIL Foundation certification desirable.
