Job summary

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join the ICE Network Engineering team in London. The role leads design, validation, deployment, and 24x7 operational support for a large global financial network and supports large-scale office refreshes and migrations.

The candidate will multitask in a dynamic team-based environment, demonstrating problem-solving capabilities and a professional approach to service delivery while working under pressure.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of general network principles and service-critical environments.
• Extensive routing protocols and troubleshooting skills in BGP and OSPF.
• Strong knowledge of NAT, route maps/ACLs, and routing policies.
• Proficiency with modern configuration management tools (Ansible, Jinja, JSON).
• Strong knowledge and experience developing in Python.
• Proficient with Git for software collaboration and version control.
• 3+ years hands-on support and troubleshooting of production networks.
• Experience with design and implementation on complex networks.
• Ability to analyze sniffer traces and understand TCP/IP protocols.
• Basic Unix/Linux system administration.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Excellent customer service attitude and ability to work under pressure.

Job Purpose

The Engineer role within the ICE Network Engineering team provides leadership in network design, validation, deployment, maintenance and 24x7 operational support.

The successful candidate will work on further advancing one of the largest and global financial networks with a wide variety of critical services as well as help drive large scale office refreshes and migrations. The successful candidate will be able to multitask in a dynamic team-based environment demonstrating strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities and the highest degree of professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, support and maintain mixed vendor network infrastructure
• Document and publish standards and designs
• Assist ICE staff with problem solving and escalation procedures
• Understand and follow operational policies/procedures and promote adherence to same
• Provide technical knowledge needed to ensure safe, effective, and efficient changes to the network infrastructure
• Collaborate and work closely with all other IT teams
• Lead incident investigations, diagnosis, and service restoration and always give priority to the resolution of incidents

Knowledge and Experience

• In depth knowledge of general network principles and technology, and how to apply them in a service-oriented mission critical environment
• Extensive network routing protocols and troubleshooting skills in BGP and OSPF
• Strong Knowledge of NAT, route maps/ACLs, and routing policies
• Strong knowledge of modern configuration management tools (Ansible, Jinja, JSON)
• Strong knowledge and experience developing in Python
• Proficient with GIT for software collaboration and version control
• 3+ years' experience hands on support and troubleshooting of production networks
• 3+ years' experience with design and implementation on complex works
• Running and analyzing sniffer traces with deep TCP/IP protocol understanding
• Basic Unix/Linux system administration
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Excellent customer service attitude
• Ability to operate effectively and professionally under pressure

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering or related field
• Experience working with wireless technology
• Experience working with Firewalls and Load balancers
• Expert level network certifications
• Firewall and Load Balancer advanced certification
• In-depth hardware knowledge of switches and routers: (Internal chipsets specifications, TCAM and memory details, buffering capabilities and multicast replication details)
