Job summary

Summer-Browning Associates is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a government client in a 6-month+ contract. You will join a highly skilled team supporting complex enterprise networks, providing 3rd-line expertise across routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs in on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments.

Responsibilities include automating deployments with Ansible and scripting in Python/PowerShell, integrating network provisioning into CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring reliability, observability

Qualifications

• Experience as Senior Network Engineer in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, IPv4/IPv6, NAT, QoS, and VLSM.
• Hands-on routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, WAN, SD-WAN.
• Proficiency with Ansible playbooks and automation workflows.
• Scripting in Python/PowerShell/Bash; Git, REST APIs, and IaC.

SBA are currently supporting our Central Government client, who are seeking a Senior Network Engineer on an initial 6 month + contract

The Role

Join a highly skilled engineering team supporting complex, business-critical enterprise network environments.

Provide 3rd-line support across routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, wireless and remote-access technologies.

Design, implement and support secure, resilient networks across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.

Drive Network Automation, DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.

Develop automated network deployment and configuration solutions using Ansible, Python/PowerShell, Git and REST APIs.

What We're Looking For

Strong experience as a Senior Network Engineer within complex enterprise environments.

Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, IPv4/IPv6, NAT, QoS and VLSM.

Strong experience with LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPNs, OSPF and BGP.

Hands-on experience across routing, switching, firewalls, wireless and load balancing.

Strong Ansible experience, including playbooks, roles, inventories and automation workflows.

Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell or Bash.

Experience with Git, REST APIs, JSON/YAML, IaC and CI/CD.

Experience supporting on-premises and cloud networking, resilience, high availability and disaster recovery.

Strong troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder communication skills.

Experience working within ITSM/change-controlled environments.

Desirable

AWS, Azure and/or GCP networking experience.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) experience.

Previous experience within highly regulated or security-conscious environments.

Flexibility for occasional out-of-hours work and travel between sites.

Clearance: Active SC clearance (willing to attain DV level vetting)
