Network Engineer – Cisco – VMWare – Palo – FortiGate – Lead Network Engineer

Lead Network Engineer

I am looking for a Lead Network Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you’ll oversee and enhance the client's core LAN/WAN infrastructure, support office moves, and lead high-impact networking projects. You’ll also provide strategic and hands-on support for a diverse technology stack across our enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and support enterprise-grade networks using Cisco 9300 series and Cisco Nexus switches
• Manage and optimise SD-WAN environments, primarily using VMware VeloCloud
• Configure and maintain Palo Alto Prisma Access and FortiGate firewalls for robust security
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues to ensure performance and uptime
• Create and maintain detailed HLD/LLD documentation
• Collaborate with internal teams on network security, compliance, and risk management
• Lead network-focused components of office relocations and IT infrastructure projects
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives
• Stay up to date with new technologies and best practices to future-proof our network

Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years' experience in network engineering roles
• Strong proficiency in Azure networking, with hands-on experience in configuration and troubleshooting
• Certified or experienced in Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and VMware SD-WAN (VeloCloud)
• Solid understanding of network security principles and cloud networking in Microsoft Azure
• Proven ability to document and communicate technical designs clearly

This role is on an FTC for an initial 12 months, offering a hybrid working model with 3 days per week in the office, and a salary of up to £84,000 plus benefits
