About The Role

Network Engineer

Bristol based with hybrid working (3 days per week in office)


Salary: £35,188 to £49,814 per annum plus 12.5% employer pension, private medical insurance, and additional benefits package


Summary:

We're looking for a Network Engineer to join our expanding team and support an upcoming network refresh programme. You'll work within a small Network Engineering team that collaborates closely, fostering a great working atmosphere at NCC.


Reporting directly to the Security & Networking Manager, you'll manage the day-to-day support of our current network and supporting infrastructure, including diagnosis and resolution of network and security issues in collaboration with the IT security analyst & manager.


This role offers opportunities to support BAU and project-based work. We prioritize training and will support your continuous professional development.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Support networking operations, including port re-configuration, fault finding, managing warranty incidents, and software upgrades. Provide expertise on NCC's IT network infrastructure for projects, including hardware, software, licensing, and infrastructure.
  • Act as a technical contact for external suppliers on network BAU activities, guiding and challenging them to meet NCC requirements cost-effectively and timely.
  • Utilize network management systems and analysis tools to monitor network load, model performance, and create improvement reports.
  • Assist in resolving incidents and major incidents related to network security.
  • Support network security certification processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT Security team.
  • Operate within a framework of Continual Service Improvement.
Project work includes supporting the delivery of network and security projects, working with other IT teams and partners on configurations for cloud and systems integrations (Azure, M365), supporting future IT solutions, and maintaining documentation.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Proven experience in networking and/or security roles.
  • Experience managing third-party relationships.
  • CCNA or equivalent vendor certification.
  • Knowledge of recent developments in networking hardware and software, including software-defined networks.
  • Understanding of enterprise networking, L2/L3 concepts, high availability protocols, next-generation firewalls, network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark), VPN & remote access, and wireless administration.
