The AWS Networking team develops and operates the network platform for all of Amazon including e-commerce products and cloud computing solutions. This platform is industry-leading for its efficiency, throughput and reliability, and it is critical to the success of hundreds of thousands of AWS customers.

The Network Development Manager of GCNA Delivery will deliver and enable Internet and border-network connectivity experience that sets the global standard for AWS network performance, availability, security and cost for our customers. The manager will be part of a team owning the planning and delivery of all Amazon border and internet network connectivity. Amazon.com is looking for a highly motivated Network Engineering Manager to help build and scale one of the world's largest networks.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Key job responsibilities
This Network Development Manager will:

  1. Lead a team of highly qualified network development engineers and work with partner teams.
  2. Be a technical and solution oriented person with the ability to deep dive and break down complex tasks.
  3. Ensure that design, management, implementation and deployment operations are sound and executed at scale, safely keeping AWS ahead of customers' demand.
  4. Continuously promote safe delivery through change control, automation, innovation and operational excellence initiatives.
  5. Focus and manage operations and process optimization using relevant data, metrics and dashboarding techniques.
  6. Keep close and collaborate with internal customers, partner teams and other stakeholders on Internet capacity delivery operations, planning and initiatives.

A day in the life
As a manager within the Networking team you will be expected to drive operational excellence in everything we do. This includes creating sane processes and procedures to improve efficiency in our day-to-day tasks and projects.

Basic Qualifications
  1. Experience in both a technology role and management role.
  2. Experience with ISP and Internet scale networking, background in building, scaling and operating large-scale global networks.
  3. Track record in contributing to the creation and implementation of high quality, high volume recruiting plans.
  4. Experience representing your team/technical area to senior management.
  5. B.S. in Computer Science or four years' equivalent.
  6. Experience in a large-scale enterprise environment is required with experience in either a Planning or Network Engineering role highly recommended.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. High degree of organizational skill and be very detail-oriented. Must be able to interact with and influence people at all levels and have excellent communication skills.
  2. Ability to contribute to and support long-term visions and direction regarding Networking at Amazon.
  3. Experience in building and managing a team of strong technical people and prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team is crucial to success.
  4. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in delivering complex projects, including coordinating and driving issues to resolution autonomously utilizing excellent project management skills.
