Job Description

Join Telent's Engineering Team to innovate and develop solutions, working with technical experts who value their impact. Be part of a high-performing team managing complex, critical work to keep the nation's infrastructure connected and secure 24/7.

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure Operations, the Network and Security Engineer supports transformational programs and service improvements by designing, implementing, and supporting critical systems across Telent's ICT estate. This role involves hybrid working with occasional office attendance as needed.

What You’ll Do:

• Serve as a design authority for Telent’s Corporate Enterprise network, producing and reviewing technical documentation and schematics.
• Design, deploy, and support network and security solutions using Cisco platforms such as SDA and SD-WAN.
• Provide technical support and resolve network incidents promptly.
• Maintain security with tools like ISE, Cisco Umbrella, and FTD/ASA firewalls.
• Perform routine activities such as software upgrades and certificate management.
• Use monitoring tools like Cisco ThousandEyes and Catalyst Centre.
• Manage relationships with third-party support providers.
• Oversee vendor contracts and licenses for infrastructure maintenance.
• Support Security Architecture/Strategy delivery within broader enterprise architecture.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and develop proof-of-concept environments.
• Identify and mitigate technology and service risks.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rota (one week per month).

Who You Are:

We welcome applicants with experience in designing, managing, or supporting enterprise networks. Candidates with a CCNP certification and a passion for technology are encouraged to apply.

Key Requirements:

• CCNP Security or CCNP Enterprise Infrastructure certification
• Experience with enterprise security technologies such as ISE, 802.1x, VPNs, and firewalls
• Experience with Cisco Wireless LAN solutions
• Familiarity with SD-WAN and Software Defined Access technologies
• Awareness of current IT trends and developments
• Ability to manage network incidents and communicate effectively during outages
• Full UK driving license and availability for on-call support one week per month
