Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Neonatal nurse to join the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The post supports a small, experienced team during an exciting period of maternity and neonatal service development.

The role involves mentoring, preceptorship, adherence to NMC guidelines, and working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of neonatal care and family-centred support.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years' neonatal experience
NMC registered and in current practice
Educated to degree level or equivalent (NMC registered)
NLS certification to support neonatal care

Responsibilities

Mentor students and staff, supporting reflective learning
Preceptor for new staff joining the unit
Support staff in developing competencies and annual appraisals
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and ensure evidence-based nursing practice
Uphold NMC code and scope of practice requirements
Maintain portfolio/records of continuing professional development
