Job description

We Are Hiring:

Department: NICU

Schedule: Full time and PRN available

Hospital: UAB St Vincent's Birmingham

Location: Birmingham, AL

In need of someone willing to work 24-hour shifts. The NP will oversee and collaborate with the care team to create care plans for acutely ill neonates. Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) certification through NCC is required. Master's degree in Nursing is required.

What You Will Do:
  1. Collaborate with physicians to expand primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions.
  2. Obtain patient history, perform assessments via observation, interviews, and examinations. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies. Conduct preventative health assessments, screenings, immunizations, and patient care.
  3. Provide direct treatment and management of health conditions through prescriptive authority or referrals to other healthcare providers or community resources.
  4. Counsel and educate patients and families/caregivers about preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
  5. Document healthcare delivery and nursing processes according to specialty standards and network policies.
What You Will Need:
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within 1 month of hire or transfer.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire or transfer.
  • DEA credential is preferred.
Education:
  • Master's degree in Nursing required.
Additional Preferences:
  • PRN candidates must have at least one year of NICU NP experience.
