Job summary

Medacs Healthcare is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Band 5 in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire. The role involves monitoring critical newborns, administering medications, and collaborating with neonatology and paediatrics teams to ensure high-quality infant care.

The position requires NMC registration, 2+ years post-graduate experience, and recent NHS exposure within the last 3 years. PVG background checks are required, with supportive services and a flexible NHS shift portfolio across UK sites.

Qualifications

• Registered with the NMC as a neonatal nurse.
• Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience.
• At least 6 months NHS experience within the last 3 years.
• Ability to pass an enhanced background check - PVG.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and managing vital signs of newborns.
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Providing feeding support to newborns with difficulties.
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop care plans.
• Educating families on neonatal care practices and growth monitoring.
• Assisting with specialized procedures and respiratory support as needed.
• Maintaining a sterile and safe environment to minimise infections.

Job description

Working as a neonatal nurse, your day-to-day tasks may include:

• Monitoring and managing the vital signs of premature or critically ill newborns, including temperature, heart rate, and breathing
• Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
• Providing feeding support to newborns who may have difficulties nursing or require specialised feeding methods
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including neonatologists, paediatricians, and other healthcare professionals, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for each infant
• Educating and supporting families on neonatal care practices, including feeding techniques, monitoring infant growth and development, and addressing any concerns or questions
• Performing specialised procedures, such as placing intravenous lines or assisting with respiratory support equipment
• Ensuring a sterile and safe environment for newborns to minimise the risk of infection or complications
• Providing emotional support to families during what can be a stressful and emotionally challenging time

Essential Qualifications:

We are looking a neonatal nurse with:

• NMC Registration.
• At least 2 years post-graduate experience.
• 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years.
• The ability to pass an enhanced background check - PVG
