Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Neonatal Milk Kitchen Assistant to support safe preparation, labelling, storage and distribution of infant feeds within neonatal units.

You will work under strict hygiene and food safety standards, supervise staff, ensure policy adherence, monitor fridge/freezer temperatures and assist with feeding plans alongside nurses and doctors.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths with a pass.
• Good numeracy skills essential for calculating milk feed volumes.
• Experience with breastfeeding support is an advantage.
• Excellent communication with parents and families.

Responsibilities

• Supervise milk kitchen staff in preparation and maintenance of all infant feeds.
• Ensure adherence to policies and guidelines relating to milk kitchen operations.
• Provide additives for feeds in a timely manner as prescribed by medical team.
• Maintain highest cleanliness standards and monitor fridge/freezer temperatures.
• Work across long and short day shifts, including weekends.
