Qualifications

Job description

Job title: NDT Operator

Location: Glascoed, South Wales

Salary: £34,887 (plus shift premium if applicable)

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Performing X-Rays then detailing any findings in line with standard operating procedure (SOP) requirements
  2. Evaluating and sentencing products in line with acceptance standards
  3. Supporting with Internal and External audits, and quality investigations into product concerns
  4. Actively supporting the X-Ray team in training new operators
  5. Adhering to site Health & Safety policies, local rules, and Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) guidance
  6. Gaining an understanding of using equipment and software to carry out inspections

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Hold or have held either EN4179, ISO9712, SNT, or PCN Level 2 accreditation in any NDT method
  • Ability to work an altered shift pattern to include days, afternoons & nights, long days or continental
  • Willingness to learn and complete a Level 2 X-Ray accreditation

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or similar environment
  • Apprenticeship/BTEC in manufacturing or mechanical engineering
  • Holding either EN4179, ISO9712, SNT, or PCN Level 2 X-Ray accreditation

The X-Ray team:

As NDT operator you would be joining a small but growing team working on munitions products for the BAE Systems Land UK customer. Reporting directly into a Process Leader with support from the X-Ray Manager you will get the chance to work on a long-term programme along with other operators. There will also be opportunities for you to develop and grow within the role as BAE Systems will support you with further qualifications/accreditations including X-Ray Level 2.
