Job description

NDT Operative

Shift Schedule: 3-shift rota (6-2, 2-10, 10-6 am) or permanent nights
Uplifts: 25% on lates, 36% on nights

Qualifications: Qualified to EN4179 / NAS410 Level 2 (castings experience preferable but not essential). Skills in radiography, DPI, or FPI are transferable if experienced.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine control checks to validate inspection processes and verify equipment calibration
  • Maintain computerized inspection records and archive paper records
  • Evaluate results and make accept/reject decisions based on customer criteria
  • Interpret specifications and assist in producing NDT techniques for Level III approval
  • Assist in audits and ensure compliance with NDT accreditation standards such as NADCAP and UKAS
  • Conduct non-destructive examination of castings by radiography to detect internal discontinuities
  • Operate computerized radiography systems using Phosphor Imaging Plates
  • Load/unload film cassettes, process films, and check radiographs against samples for correct setup
  • Perform control checks, monitor processors, and verify equipment calibration
  • Restock darkroom supplies and replenish processing solutions
  • View and interpret radiographs, both in-house and externally produced, and evaluate results according to customer acceptance criteria
