Duties And Responsibilities
PURPOSE
- Execute inspections as required by Offshore Inspection Engineers (OIE) and Senior Inspection Engineer (SIE) and report back in the required approved format in a timely manner.
- Supervise and coordinate ad-hoc NDT inspectors, 3rd party companies, and/or NDT inspection teams on platform to ensure all ultrasonic testing, eddy current inspection, magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrant inspections, and radiographic inspections on static equipment and piping are performed according to standards, with reports submitted timely and correctly formatted.
- Act as additional personnel within the NDT inspection team to complete inspections as qualified.
Functions
Essential
- Perform effective NDT techniques on components requiring inspection.
- Utilize rope access capabilities for working at heights for extended periods.
- Perform rope access inspections safely in harsh environments, ensuring regular breaks.
- Use correct rope access equipment and wear harness at all times.
- Ensure work area safety for rope access activities.
- Secure permits and ensure work-scope availability for inspection.
- Evaluate test results according to applicable specifications.
- Ensure inspections meet specification parameters.
- Produce clear reports with methods, results, and sketches, noting limitations or restrictions.
- Cross-check NDT reports for accuracy, referencing correct procedures and equipment calibration, then countersign as supervisor.
- Send signed reports for audit to ensure quality.
- Report near hits, incidents, accidents, and first aid actions per Oceaneering procedures.
- Complete client-specific safety observations daily.
- Conduct safety and pre-job toolbox talks.
- Perform risk assessments/Take2 as needed.
- Supervise radiography teams and ensure daily checklist completion.
- Provide technician feedback on attitude, punctuality, safety, and competence.
- Ensure technicians perform annual technical audits.
- Verify function tests on NDT and radiography equipment, reporting faults.
- Perform probe checks for UT technicians daily.
- Maintain and control NDT equipment and consumables, updating registers and reports.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment on platform.
- Verify consumables are in date and have certificates of conformance.
- Check labeling, locking, and verification of equipment before packing for return.
- Support OIE in producing IQs.
- Maintain inspection files.
- Complete work efficiently to meet deadlines, adjusting priorities as needed.
- Follow Oceaneering procedures and client requirements.

Qualifications
To perform successfully, demonstrate:
Required
- PCN L2 or CSWIP Visual Inspection
- CSWIP Plant Inspector L1 or equivalent
- PCN Level 2 in three disciplines
- Valid Passport
- Offshore Survival / Medical / M.I.S.T / Cat A E.B.S / Bi-Deltoid Measurement / Eye Test
Desired
- GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science
- Flexible, team-oriented, with good communication skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- EngTech accreditation or equivalent
- ASNT/PCN L2 in MPI and/or DPI
- Valid full UK driving license
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Requires:
- 2-year college or technical school degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience or training in related field
- Familiarity with QA/QC systems
Minimum 1-year experience in relevant inspection techniques in oil and gas industry.
Language skills to interpret technical and regulatory documentation, write reports, and communicate effectively with groups.
Mathematical skills to handle probabilities, geometry, and ratios.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PeopleSoft, Enovia, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
