We are currently looking to recruit a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Development Engineer, within our team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced ultrasonic (UT) and eddy current (ET) inspection techniques, including Phased Array Ultrasonic (PAUT) and Eddy Current Array (ECA) capabilities for naval nuclear reactor components.
Why Rolls-Royce? Rolls-Royce is a renowned brand at the forefront of innovation, designing and servicing systems that provide critical power with safety and reliability. We foster an inclusive culture that invests in your growth and offers opportunities to make a difference.
This role involves working across the full NDE inspection cycle, utilizing cutting-edge probe technology and software, including practical trials and modeling. Training will be provided to support your development and technical expertise.
We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and benefits such as bonuses, employee support assistance, and discounts.
Responsibilities include working with naval nuclear reactor components pre-service, in-service, and post-service. You will operate in a team focused on technical excellence and customer satisfaction, developing and implementing new NDE methods with remotely operated machinery.
Travel to sites like Barrow-in-Furness shipyard, naval bases, and Vulcan Naval Test Reactor Establishment may be required, typically less than 25% of the year, with support for 12-hour shifts during deployments. A valid driving license and physical capability to move around the products are necessary.
We seek candidates with experience in remotely operated ultrasonic and eddy current testing systems, ability to work in a technical environment, produce technical reports, and preferably with a STEM degree and professional qualifications in NDT (e.g., PCN, SNT, ASNT). Less experienced candidates with strong academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Rolls-Royce is an equal opportunities employer committed to diversity and inclusion. Security clearance is required for working with the Submarines business, and support for obtaining clearance will be provided.
