Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Development Engineer (UT/ET) for our team in Derby. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying advanced automated ultrasonic (UT) and eddy current (ET) inspection techniques, including Phased Array Ultrasonic (PAUT) and Eddy Current Array (ECA) capabilities for naval nuclear reactor components.

Team and Environment

This role is within the NDE Development team in the Inspection, Maintenance and Repair Services (IMRS) division. You will work across the full NDE inspection cycle, using cutting-edge technology and software, with training provided to develop your skills.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with naval nuclear reactor components, supporting pre-service, in-service, and post-service inspections.
  • Develop and implement new NDE methods using bespoke remotely operated machinery.
  • Travel to various sites for field deployments, supporting 12-hour shifts on a 24/7 basis, including weekends and holidays.
Requirements
  • Experience with remotely operated Ultrasonic & Eddy Current Testing systems or similar.
  • Ability to work in a technical environment, in multidisciplinary teams, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong technical reporting skills.
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Professional NDT qualifications (e.g., PCN, SNT, ASNT) are beneficial.
  • UK nationality or dual nationality with security clearance eligibility.
