Job summary

Angard Staffing is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as flexible (temporary) Mail & Parcel Sorters with Royal Mail in Northampton. Roles are seasonal until the Christmas period, with shifts across Early, Day, Dawn, Late and Night patterns.

Training provided, lifting up to 11 kg (mail) and 30 kg (parcels) is required, with potential long shifts and weekend work. Pay rates vary by shift, starting around £13.69–£16.44 per hour depending on pattern.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse or sorting is a plus.
• No prior experience required; full training provided.
• Able to handle lifting up to 30 kg and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Unload mail and parcels from vehicles and sorting areas.
• Sort items by postcode and move them through the warehouse.
• Work efficiently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Switch between tasks as required and maintain accuracy.

Angard Staffing is looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as flexible (temporary) Mail & Parcel Sorters with Royal Mail

Whether you’re looking to gain experience or take on a new challenge, this is your chance to be part of a team that helps keep the country moving.

Shifts are available any day of the week, from Monday to Sunday, and vary depending on operational needs.

All shifts are a minimum of 4 hours, with the potential to extend up to 12 hours.

We operate across three main shift patterns:

Early Shifts:

Typically start between 06:00 and 14:00.

Late Shifts:

Typically start between14:00 to 22:00.

Night Shifts:

Typically start between22:00 to 06:00.

Please note that shift times may vary slightly by location and role. Flexibility is essential, and candidates should be prepared to work across different shift patterns, including weekends, where required.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Mail & Parcel Sorter, you’ll be at the heart of our operations:

• Unloading mail and parcels
• Sorting items by postcode and moving them through the warehouse
• Working efficiently to meet tight deadlines - some teams sort over a million items in a single shift!

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to have worked for us before (we love new people!), but experience in warehouse or sorting work is a plus.

Our ideal candidate

• Enjoys working in a fast-paced setting
• Able to lift mail bags up to 11kg and parcels up to 30kg and push trolleys/yorks up to 250kg
• Comfortable standing and walking for long periods
• Reliable and flexible with good attention to detail
• No previous experience needed - training provided
• Comfortable switching between tasks

Pay & Shifts

The table below outlines the pay rates applicable for Mail Sorter roles within our Mail Centres and Parcel Hubs. The rates displayed are payable for the entirety of your shift where the shift description criteria is met.

Rates could be subject to change during busy periods, Angard staffing will communicate any change to your pay rates in advance.

Typical Shift patterns and pay-

• Day Shift: Starts And Finishes Between 05:31 - 19:59 £13.69
• Dawn Shift: Starts Between 02:01 - 04:00 £14.61
• Early 0500: Starts Between 04:01 - 05:00 £14.17
• Early 0530: Starts Between 05:01 - 05:30 £13.93
• Evening: Finishes Between 20:00 - 21:39 £14.38
• Lates: Finishes Between 21:40 - 01:59 £15.14
• Nights: Three hours across 23:00 - 05:00 £16.44
