Job summary

Hilton Food Group in Huntingdon is seeking a hands-on NAWI (Automation) Engineer to maintain and improve automated warehouse and conveyor systems, diagnose faults, and perform planned maintenance to ensure safety, quality and performance.

You will support installation and commissioning of new equipment, work with contractors, and contribute to improvement projects while liaising with production and logistics teams.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship to ONC/HNC level or equivalent.
• Strong electrical bias with proven experience in control systems (PLCs, relays, safety circuits).
• Good mechanical knowledge; experience in automated environments is essential.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out remedial actions to engineering standards.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance on all automated systems.
• Propose and implement equipment improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Attend PIT meetings to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) with production and logistics teams.
• Complete accurate breakdown and maintenance reports.
• Ensure correct booking out of spare parts from stores.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Contribute to special engineering and improvement projects.
• Provide technical support and guidance to warehouse operatives.
• Work with contractors as required.
• Comply with hygiene, health & safety and company policies.
