Job Summary
The Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, also known as CTCRM, is the principal training centre for the Royal Marines.
Based at Lympstone in Devon CTCRM selects and trains all Royal Marines Officers, recruits and reserves. CTCRM is unique in that it also provides all Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) command training as well as training 70% of all Royal Marines specialists.
On average, 1,300 recruits, 2,000 potential recruits and 400 potential officers attend training courses and acquaint courses at CTCRM every year. In addition the Training Wings run upwards of 320 courses a year for a further 2,000 students.
An integral part of CTCRM the Water Activity Centre provides adventurous training packages to CTCRM, Royal Marines across the Corps and other military and MOD personnel.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job Description
The incumbent will maintain and repair all CTCRM craft and ancillary equipment as directed by the Water Activity Centre Manager so that all boats and equipment are serviceable and seaworthy, in accordance with unit requirements and agreed priorities.
They will support all activities conducted from the WAC, provide assistance / instruction in the running of British Stand Up Paddleboard Association (BSUPA),MIAS Level 2 Mountain bike, British Cycling Road Leader and Nordic Skating courses and provide instruction for boating acquaints on CTCRM craft as appropriate.

Person specification
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can work independently, delivering clear instruction, manage their own workload, prioritising and reassessing tasks as required.
The Water Activity Centre is seeking applications from a boat maintainer/instructor to support Adventurous Training to a broad spectrum of individuals.
The Skillzone 4 will work alongside the Water Activity Centre Manager and military counterparts to deliver a Whole Force Adventurous Training approach across the site and the wider MOD workforce.
Essential Skills
- Full UK Driving Licence (capable of towing a trailer)
- Competent in the use of MS Office packages
- Experience in delivering Adventurous Training packages
