Job Summary
The Information Manager (IMgr) is accountable for the information process for the Finance Directorate. They advise and support the Senior Information Officer (SIO) and are responsible for ensuring that information is being captured, stored, distributed, used, retained, and eventually disposed of, in accordance with the law, MOD policy and guidance as well as local instructions. Whether in operational or administrative environments, good exploitation of information depends on its good management.
The IMgr’s contribution is therefore vital in helping the Directorate define their requirements and refine their processes to use information effectively. The IMgr will be supported by the iHub, who will provide the necessary expertise when required. In addition, the IMgr manages the information risk management processes for the Directorate, briefing the SIO on the overall level of risk being carried by the Directorate and anticipating issues that may exceed stated levels of risk appetite.
Job Description
As the Information Manager (IMgr) you will provide advice, guidance, and support on all aspects of Information Management (IM) for the Finance Directorate (FD) in accordance with JSP 441.
- Provide FD Personnel with all SharePoint enquiries, assist in the design and development of SharePoint Sites.
- Develop the Information Management skills and competencies of the Directorate, ensuring they understand the information structures, proper use of shared areas and the associated tools and ways of working, working with the Navy Command Headquarters iHub to ensure all sites, and permissions are up to date with current policies.
- Manage and maintain the Information Management Plan for the Directorate.
- Remain responsible for managing the Records Management process for the Directorate by creating and maintaining a Finance Directorate file plan and retention schedule for retaining both physical and electronic records, ensuring reviews are carried out in accordance with the instructions issued in JSP 441 and AP7004.
- Support the Senior Information Officer (SIO) in all aspects of their responsibilities to ensure that the organisation has the correct security, privacy and accessibility of information.
- Support Information Governance Lead regarding Data Protection tasks, acting as the Deputy Data Protection Advisor (DDPA)
- Act as the DefNet Publisher for the Directorate.

Person specification
We seek to employ a motivated, upbeat and organised individual to join our team, with the ability to work independently, managing deadlines, priorities and workload effectively.
Ideally, the individual would have previous experience of working with SharePoint, DEFNET, Office 365 and the associated suite of Microsoft applications.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments.
