Job Title: Naval Radar Principal Systems Engineer

Location: Isle of Wight – Cowes

Salary: Up to £70,600, commensurate with skills and experience. Part-time & accruing hours available.

Join a dynamic Principal Systems Engineering role at the forefront of defense industry demands. Ensure operational excellence for existing products and develop next-generation radar systems to counter emerging threats, contributing to new technology strategies. Your daily activities will involve applying Systems Engineering principles across the entire development lifecycle, developing radar systems used by those who serve and protect us.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Develop solutions for evolving technical challenges in complex Radar Systems faced by our customers and end-user communities.
  • Apply Systems Engineering principles, techniques, and governance to develop solutions and resolve engineering issues.
  • Conduct system design analysis to manage trade-offs and specify robust product designs.
  • Lead the decomposition of requirements to system and sub-system levels, managing them with tools like IBM DOORS Next.
  • Serve as a technical focus point with a holistic understanding of system solutions, leading analysis activities and design decisions, and guiding your team.
  • Collaborate with specialists across disciplines such as electronics, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering.
  • Lead system integration, testing, planning, and execution.
  • Define and communicate system acceptance strategies and evidence demonstrating performance across operational scenarios to stakeholders.
  • Build your profile with senior stakeholders and grow your engineering knowledge base.
Your skills and experience:

- Good understanding of signal processing, target track extraction, object classification algorithms, and system/resource optimization.

- Understanding of factors affecting sensing system performance and their impact on measurement accuracy and timeliness.

- Knowledge of Systems Engineering standards (e.g., ISO 15288) and experience in presenting technical and non-technical information.
