The Team:
The Maritime Engineering Group sits within the Maritime, Land and Weapons business of QinetiQ. The team delivers testing and evaluation consultancy services in the area of hydrodynamics, submarine escape and evacuation and maritime structures. Problem solving forms a significant part of the project work within the group – identifying a methodology for solving a client’s issues, mathematically or through physical testing.
What will I be doing?
The primary focus of the job will be the delivery of technical projects relating to the mechanical design of significant components of a submarine. Whilst the role has a specific focus, there will be opportunities to be involved in the group’s wider work streams, which include propulsor and propeller design, dynamic stability, quasi-static stability, seakeeping, resistance and propulsion of surface ships and submarines.
