- Toproduce and deliver drawings and technical information to a high quality and inaccordance with the Design drawing schedule and Oyster Group Schedule.
- Recordand process other design information in the form of weight management anddesign development.
- Supportyard and build teams with relevant lifting, loading and yard positioninginformation for boats in various stages of their production.
- SupportProject managers with relevant technical information to aid Client decisionmaking and spec choices.
- Processdata from commissioning team, in way of freeboard measurements, incliningprocedures and performance data.
Key Job Responsibilities- Production,maintenance and management of technical information, focused on the NavalArchitecture, and Exterior Fit out of the boats in build, and through designdevelopment of new models.
- Issuedesign information and liaise with external suppliers and fabricators.
- Workwith Production and fabricators to ensure corrections and updates are made where necessary – updating the designs and methods to reduce lost time andminimise complication, where possible.
- Maintainand update design information databases (drawings issue registers / weightestimates etc.) including, sail plans, deck plans and general arrangements.
- Inputinto Weight Studies and assistance with Naval Architecture as required.
- Cradledesign, docking plans and load calculations
- Riggingcomponent design and development in collaboration with suppliers
- Surfacemodelling and GRP tooling design
- Deckfittings- Specification of standard parts.Design / development of customparts
- Customfabrications -Stainless steel fabrications. Exterior mechanical designs andinstallations, e.g. Pushpit, Passerelles, biminis, deck hatches
- Attenddevelopment meetings to stay abreast of variations and keep up to date with Productionfeedback, where required.
- Researchappliance / component technical specifications, new system, or design development,where relevant.
- Continuousimprovement on ways of working and design processes, to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
Knowledge
· Practicalknowledge and understanding of sailing yachts
· Goodknowledge of Naval Architecture
· Goodunderstanding of stainless steel / aluminium and composite fabricationtechniques
· Goodunderstanding of the design / specification of sailing systems (hydraulic rams,furlers, winches etc.)
Soundunderstanding of mechanical systems
Skills
· 3Dparametric modelling (NX Preferred but not essential)
· 2DAutoCAD draughting
· Competentuser of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
· Abilityto read and produce technical information
Communication,particularly ability to share and interpret technical drawing with productionteam
Experience
· Practicalexperience within the marine industry
Proventrack record in a similar/comparable Design role
Qualifications
Degreelevel qualified in Naval Architecture or a relevant topic such as technicaldesign or engineering
