We are now recruiting for a National Sales Director (Utilities & infrastructure) to join the Civils & Drainage senior leadership team. You will be responsible for developing, leading and driving the national sales strategy within the water, infrastructure, and utilities sector.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will spearhead the achievement of ambitious growth targets through a sharp, commercially focused strategy. You will develop and lead a high-calibre team of Business Development Managers, fostering a results-driven culture that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and accountability. At the same time, you’ll build and nurture strategic partnerships with senior stakeholders across the water and utilities sector, positioning the business as a trusted partner and unlocking new opportunities for long-term success.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement a commercially driven strategy to maximise the opportunity within the water, infrastructure and utilities sector, setting budgets and performance targets that will drive top-line growth, profit margin expansion, and market share gains.
  • Build and promote a high-performing team culture capable of delivering exceptional results, including training, coaching and performance management
  • Drive commercial excellence, maximising profitability through effective pricing strategies, contract negotiations, margin management, and cost control.
  • Develop and implement financial plans and budgets, monitoring key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain senior-level customer relationships, cultivating and strengthening strategic partnerships with key customers to ensure long-term, profitable and sustainable business.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments, including design, engineering, marketing, product development, and operations, to achieve business objectives.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within the water, utilities and infrastructure sector.
  • Maintain overall budgetary control for the team.
  • Actively participate in the senior leadership team, providing input and insights to shape the company’s future growth strategies and business plans.
  • Represent Marshalls at industry events and conferences, building relationships with key industry stakeholders.


What are the mission-critical skills?
You will bring a proven track record in sales or commercial leadership, with demonstrated success in driving a sales team to exceed targets. With strong commercial acumen, you will possess a deep understanding of market dynamics, pricing strategies, and profit optimization, using data-driven decisions to fuel business growth.

You will offer:-

  • A successful track record of developing and implementing effective sales strategies that align with overall company goals and drive sustainable growth.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior-level customers and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Expertise: Proven ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and effectively tackle challenges.
  • CRM Proficiency: Experienced in utilizing customer relationship management (CRM) systems to monitor sales performance, enhance customer relationships, and streamline sales processes.
  • Results-Driven Approach: A dedicated focus on achieving measurable results, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional performance standards.

Experience in the water, infrastructure and utilities sector, with a strong track record in successfully managing sales to major projects is highly desirable.
