National Research and Development Finance Manager

A unique and exciting fixed term secondment opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to be appointed as a National Research and Development Finance Manager (Band 7)

The post is fixed term / secondment for 3 years due to funding.

If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

This role will suit a self-motivated individual with strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to think laterally and work with minimal day to day supervision.

The post holder will require excellent communication skills, have a positive and flexible approach to the needs of the Service, be motivated, ready for the next challenge and enjoy working as part of a very busy team.

Main duties of the job

The key duties as follows:

support the day-to-day co-ordination and provision of the finance and funding support functions in relation to Welsh Government level reporting, financial planning, financial management, transformation

providing professional financial advice, support and information to enable effective and proactive budgets and financial management

support the Research Funding Team in the performance management of Health and Care Research Wales Research Delivery Funding and other research related income and attend monthly meetings with each NHS organisation across Wales.

support the implementation of national, local and ongoing development of the research and development finance policy and procedures

contributing to the positive culture and governance arrangements in the development of accounting, budgeting and reporting systems, strategies and plans.

supporting the Commercial Research Delivery Lead, Head of Research Support and Operations, National Research Funding team, Finance Officer and the wider Health and Care Research Wales infrastructure in adhering to the research and development finance policy and research related financial strategies.
