Job summary

Historic England is seeking a National Projects Manager (Capital and Repair Works) to oversee capital and repair projects across its office estate. You will coordinate with external consultants, contractors and internal teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

The role requires managing multiple projects, budgets, procurement and contracts, with willingness to travel, including to Shrewsbury, to close out defects post-restoration. This is a fixed-term contract until March 2028 with hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction project management on public estates or existing buildings.
• Strong track record in planning, delivering and closing multiple projects or programmes.
• Experience managing budgets, procurement, and construction contracts with risk management.
• Experience with building fabric repairs, refurbishments, services and fit outs in existing buildings.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital and repair projects and initiatives across Historic England’s office estate.
• Ensure delivery of a range of projects with external consultants and contractors.
• Travel to project sites as required, including Shrewsbury for the Flaxmill Maltings project.
