Job Title: National Head of Stock and Inventory

Are you a Stock & Inventory enthusiast who enjoys problem solving, lean thinking, and has a background in FMCG?
The Company
We're working with a UK-based, market-leading FMCG business with a presence across multiple continents. The logistics NDC operation is based in Oxfordshire, and due to business growth, we are looking for a skilled National Head of Stock and Inventory with extensive understanding of stock and end-to-end supply chain management.
This is an on-site position with core distribution centers located in and around Oxfordshire.
The Role
- Establish strong relationships and collaborate with stakeholders such as Warehouse, Purchasing, Planning, Commercial, Customers, and Finance.
- Manage stock and inventories at the National Distribution Centre, including third-party storage and manufacturing sites nationwide.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, legal, quality, and customer requirements, as well as statutory regulations.
- Develop practices, processes, and systems in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Plan storage capacity utilization to meet evolving business needs.
- Optimize warehouse layouts and storage patterns for space efficiency and quick stock access; manage pick walk processes and locations.
- Maintain accurate physical stock records aligned with financial and planning systems.
- Handle returns and disposal of distressed stocks efficiently.
- Support demand planning to prepare for seasonal fluctuations.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure safety and statutory compliance in distribution operations.
- Assist in the growth and development of team members.
- Implement routine performance reporting to monitor key metrics.
- Manage capacity and storage within budget, investigating discrepancies and losses.
- Identify capability gaps and opportunities for training and development.
- Collaborate with business and suppliers to improve systems without disrupting operations.
- Maintain stock accuracy and quality standards.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in projects to reduce carbon footprint related to storage operations.
- Manage team discipline, attendance, and performance fairly.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree or equivalent experience (10+ years) - Essential
- Professional logistics or supply chain qualification - Advantageous
- Experience in FMCG or food industry roles - Essential
- Knowledge of problem-solving, lean manufacturing - Essential
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint - Essential
- Experience in logistics/distribution either in 3PL or in-house (retail, manufacturing) - Essential
- Must be able to commute to Oxfordshire - Essential
