Job description
Overview

Youll play a key role in saving lives as you oversee Transport and Logistics Fleet Services that meet and exceed the needs of the NHSBT and its patients. You will be responsible for managing the strategic development and control of an effective national Fleet Services Operation within NHSBT, operating in line with UK legislation and regulations to provide transport delivery services throughout NHSBT and to all NHS hospitals. The role also manages all aspects of NHSBT lease car and grey fleet schemes and administration by external providers. You will have management experience in the transport industry, including overseeing people and resources in a unionised environment, and a proven track record in maintaining, monitoring and controlling fleet operating performance to influence strategic direction.

Fully, in this role you will be responsible for managing the strategic development and control of an effective national Fleet Services Operation within NHSBT and to the NHS through indirect provision of Transport Operation services to all hospitals and NHSBT directorates.

Responsibilities
  • Provision of a national fleet of vehicles that are fit for purpose and operate within UK legislation and regulations, ensuring delivery of the Fleet services budget and contributing to overall transport budget delivery.
  • Input and management of long-term strategic plans and determination of national policies.
  • Overall strategic and contractual management of all external providers to transport.
  • Ensure that transport can support the NHSBT contingency planning process.
  • Influence overall strategic and contractual management of all external providers to transport.
  • Defining data to be captured and managing systems to collate, analyse and disseminate this data.
  • Managing all aspects of NHSBT lease car and grey fleet schemes and administration by external providers.
  • Conversant with all road transport related legislation; proven experience in formulating and developing transport fleet operations strategies and negotiating contracts.
  • Led plans to identify, manage and reduce areas of corporate risk involving driving at work.
  • Strong project planning, presentation and analytical skills, together with knowledge of vehicle technical design and specification.
