Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on a Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults and MCA Lead role in Barnet, working within the Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust safeguarding team.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner with experience in managing complex cases and a solid understanding of legal duties related to the Care Act, Human Rights, adults at risk, multi-agency working, and making safeguarding personal.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Associate Director of Safeguarding, the Head of Safeguarding, and the wider safeguarding team to provide specialist safeguarding advice and support to CLCH staff, in accordance with local and national policies, guidance, and legislation.

Safeguarding is a fundamental aspect across all health and social care services. Experience in this role will develop transferable skills for future career progression.

Independent working skills are essential, and travel across the organizational area may be required.

The Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults / MCA Lead plays a key role within CLCH to ensure staff deliver safe, effective care compliant with:

  • Human Rights Act (1998)
  • Care Act (2014)
  • Mental Capacity Act (2005, including Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards)
  • Liberty Protection Safeguards (2019)

The role aligns work with Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) principles and Think Family guidance.

The post involves working independently to provide specialist safeguarding advice, support, and leadership, including guidance on safeguarding alerts, escalation of concerns, and adherence to CLCH safeguarding policies.

Additionally, the post supports the CLCH MCA Assurance Lead to ensure care for patients lacking capacity complies with statutory processes like Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Liberty Protection Safeguards.
