The closing date is 10 August 2025

Are you a passionate and experienced health professional committed to protecting adults at risk? This is a vital leadership role within Cornwall's integrated safeguarding team at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

As the Named Adult Safeguarding Practitioner, you'll act as a visible, trusted source of expert advice across acute and community services. You will lead and support staff to recognise, respond to, and prevent abuse and neglect, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with safeguarding legislation.

Working in partnership with multi-agency teams, including local authority and voluntary organisations, your role will involve:

Providing expert advice on safeguarding adults, the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and Prevent.

Leading on safeguarding initiatives and representing the Trusts at strategic forums.

Delivering high-quality supervision to empower staff in their safeguarding practice.

Championing innovation, best practice, and continuous improvement.

Contributing to safeguarding reviews, audits, and complex case management.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on adult safeguarding across Cornwall. We're looking for a motivated, compassionate professional with leadership experience and a strong commitment to collaborative working.

Main duties of the job

Lead, manage, and coordinate the development of adult safeguarding services across Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CFT) and Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT). This key leadership role provides safeguarding expertise to staff across both Trusts and supports the Consultant Nurse for Integrated Safeguarding and Deputy Safeguarding Manager in delivering high-quality safeguarding services.

You will lead a team of adult safeguarding practitioners, providing specialist advice, guidance, supervision, resource management, and training to promote evidence-based, professional practice. Working closely with frontline staff, you will support positive safeguarding practices and ensure consistent, high standards of care.

The role includes working with executive safeguarding leads to monitor performance indicators and ensure policies remain robust and aligned with national, regional, and local guidance. You will also take a leading role in developing, delivering, and evaluating safeguarding adults training, in collaboration with Learning and Development teams and multi-agency partners.

This role requires in-depth knowledge of adult safeguarding and relevant legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act. While expected outcomes are defined, you will be empowered to determine the best approach, guided by policy, regulation, and professional principles.
