Summary

We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator to join a software development company who work to bring invention and innovation to the manufacturing industry. The role is being offered on a permanent, full-time basis, and with a flexible hybrid working pattern.

The office is located just outside of Oxford, close to transport links.

We are looking for a proactive, strategic, and enthusiastic individual with an expertise in MySQL database experience to help the company achieve their data goals for and beyond! You'll be building solutions in addition to developing and curating new innovative strategies.

The Role

The company are looking for an expert in data to design, build and improve on their existing capabilities. If you have a creative mindset, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and are always looking to strive for more, then this could be the perfect company, and role, for you.

You would be contributing to MySQL data and database solutions both under your own steam and within a team to deliver the optimization, security and reliability of their database system.

As a strong communicator, you will be collaborating with different teams to contribute to their technology decisions and architecture discussions to ensure that database best practices are being promoted throughout the business.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement MySQL databases in a Linux environment
• Monitor database performance for efficient data retrieval, and identify areas for improvement
• Implement and manage database security measures
• Take responsibility for database backup and recovery
• Perform database maintenance upgrades, migrations, and patch management
• Perform regular updates to ensure system stability
• Enforce best practices across the wider team
• Mentor and advise junior team members
• MySQL Server
• Python / Bash
• An enthusiasm for keeping up to date with latest IT trends and technologies
