Job summary

King's College London seeks a Muslim Chaplain and Advisor on Islamophobia to join its Waterloo Campus in a groundbreaking dual role that blends pastoral chaplaincy with university-wide advisory leadership on Islamophobia prevention and response. The post covers Islamic life across campus, advising on religious accommodations, and delivering high-level briefings to executives.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of Islam and its diverse practice traditions.
• Ability to address Islamophobia in higher education settings.
• Confidential listening with clear professional boundaries.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive briefing capability.
• Experience in multi-faith environments with cross-faith relationship skills.
• Ability to engage empathetically with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care to Muslim students and staff; serve as an inclusive spiritual resource for all community members.
• Lead Islamic religious life across campus; manage prayer facilities at all locations.
• Advise senior leadership on religious accommodations and cultural sensitivity for Islamic observances.
• Deliver high-level briefings to executive meetings as the Islamophobia subject matter expert.
• Collaborate with Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and Student Support to deliver Islamophobia awareness training.
• Build and maintain relationships with Islamic agencies and community leaders.
• Support incident response on Islamophobia matters affecting the university.
