Music Tutor – Band Leader (SEND)
Location: Eckington and surrounding sites across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and South Yorkshire
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £34,216 – £42,198 (depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP or September 2025
Contract: Permanent

We are working with a specialist education provider to recruit a Music Tutor to lead and develop a band made up of young learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding and creative role where you’ll support learners in building their confidence, performance skills, and musical abilities through regular rehearsals and public events.

About the Role
This role involves delivering practical music sessions across several sites, coaching learners in a range of instruments and vocals, and supporting them to perform together as a band. The sessions are tailored to individual needs and focused on building teamwork, creativity, and confidence.

You’ll also be responsible for organising performances, both within the organisation and out in the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a learner band, encouraging participation, engagement, and progression
Deliver structured, inclusive music sessions adapted to meet individual learning needs
Teach a range of instruments such as guitar, drums, keyboard, bass, and vocals
Foster creativity, self-expression, and performance skills
Support learners with stage presence, audience interaction, and event preparation
Collaborate with staff to support learner development across curriculum areas
Organise and oversee performances and community gigs
Maintain clear records of learner progress
Ensure learner safety and well-being in line with safeguarding policies
Requirements

Confident in playing and teaching multiple instruments
Experience working with learners with additional needs or in an inclusive setting
Experience delivering engaging, structured sessions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to travel between sites (mileage reimbursed)
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (for learner transport when required)
Desirable but not essential:

Experience organising live performances or music events
Knowledge of music technology and live sound equipment
