Job summary

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Music Therapist to provide specialist assessment and intervention for young people, and to review outcomes with appropriate measures. The post involves working with carers, families and multidisciplinary teams to plan and deliver therapy.

You will manage a specialist caseload across the Arts Therapies Service, delivering group and individual sessions under guidance, with a focus on psychodynamic formulations and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Music
• Master's level or equivalent in Music Therapy
• Experience of working in Mental Health
• Experience of Music Therapy assessment/intervention for Mental Health
• Experience with clinical supervision
• Ability to understand complex non-verbal communication
• Ability to support shared decision making with patients including communication challenges
• Ability to provide detailed psychological reports for care planning
• Ability to liaise with professionals and external services on sensitive issues including risk

Job description

To provide specialist Music Therapy assessment and intervention, both individual and group, and to review the effectiveness of interventions using outcome measures as required by the Arts Therapies Professional Lead. To work collaboratively with people, their carers and families, and multidisciplinary teams and to plan Music Therapy interventions. To manage a specialist case load, providing assessment, diagnoses, treatment and monitoring of individuals identified needs across the Arts Therapies Service. To participate in multi-disciplinary/ multi agency working within the Arts Therapies. and with key partners., Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details of responsibilities. To participate in the delivery of Music Therapy under the guidance of a specialist band 7 Arts Therapist and the Lead Arts Therapist by managing a caseload of clients. To maintain professional standards in accordance with the relevant professional body BAMT and the professional regulator (Health and Care Professions Council) To participate in audit, service evaluation and research activities when required To participate in the delivery of Music Therapy under the guidance of specialist band 7 Arts Therapist and the Lead Arts Therapist by managing a caseload of clients. The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills and have undertaken appropriate post registration training. To be proficient in the assessment, identification, treatment and management of the emotional and psychological needs of the population requiring prolonged, in-depth concentration. This includes risk assessment, assessment of complex conditions. To frequently communicate and receive highly complex sensitive information with young people; who have experienced trauma/abuse /highly complex needs; their relatives/carers and other professionals. To have the specialist knowledge / skill to apply psychodynamic formulations and theory to work with individuals, groups and organizations.
This post offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly enthusiastic and motivated Music Therapist who is passionate about placing young people's needs at the centre of their clinical work and who is interested in delivering a high standard of clinical Music Therapy sessions for young people. This post is supported by Youth Music grant funding via the CPFT Head to Toe Charity and provides community-based Music Therapy which presently takes place at the Child Development Centre in Peterborough. Music Therapists previously involved in the Youth Music project have been recognised through national awards; CAPHO, HSJ, and with a publication through Public Health England and have presented the project at the Royal College of Psychiatry.

• Degree or equivalent in Music
• Professional Qualification in Music Therapy at Master's level or equivalent, Experience of working in Mental Health.
• Experience of Music Therapy individual assessment and intervention relevant to Mental Health
• Experience of using clinical supervision effectively, Ability to understand complex non-verbal communication
• Ability to support and engage in shared decision making with patients, including with patients who experience communication challenges
• Ability to provide detailed and complex psychological reports and information to inform and support care planning processes
• Ability to liaise effectively with a range of professionals, and external services or organisations, regarding sensitive and complex issues relating to clinical work, including issues relating to risk, Skills in providing group work
