Role: Music Technician

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Music Technician to join a dynamic Creative Arts team, providing technical support across a range of music and performing arts training programmes. The role involves preparing practical learning spaces, managing equipment and materials, ensuring health and safety compliance, and contributing to technical demonstrations where needed.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that resources and training areas are fully equipped, well-maintained, and aligned with the needs of learners and the curriculum.

Key Success Factors:-

· Experience working within a music and performing arts environment, ideally in an educational or training setting.
· Strong understanding of health and safety procedures and legislation.
· Ability to manage, audit and maintain resources and stock effectively.
· Collaboration with teaching staff to ensure sessions are technically supported and resourced.
· Coordination with suppliers to manage deliveries and stock records.

Key Responsibilities

· Maintain up-to-date records of equipment stock and usage.
· Set up and support the delivery of practical sessions using audio, lighting, and theatre equipment.
· Ensure the security of equipment and facilities, preventing unauthorised access. Assist in risk assessments and maintain a safe working environment.
· Provide technical support to learners during practical sessions.
· Issue, retrieve, and demonstrate the correct use of equipment to students.
· Prepare materials and resources as required by line management.
· Ensure clear and correct signage, access, and safe shutdown procedures are in place.
· Actively contribute to internal and external meetings and team planning sessions.
· Promote a culture of inclusivity, responsibility, and aspiration within the learning environment.
· Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies on data protection and regulatory compliance.
· Support wider organisational activities such as enrolment and assessment.
· Approach tasks flexibly, demonstrating initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Education, Skills and Requirements:

· GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
· Previous experience supporting music and performing arts programmes, including direct learner support.
· Practical knowledge of maintaining and setting up music and performing arts equipment.
· Awareness of relevant safety standards and legislation.
· Strong organisational and communication skills.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Willingness to undertake other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
