Job description

Music / Piano Teacher role at newly launched Burntisland Piano School (Fife), teaching individuals and small groups of all ages.

Job type:
Permanent, part-time. Working pattern across 3 days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, term-time). Hours also available for Saturdays, term-time, but not essential if not available. This is a freelance permanent part-time position, with scope for building up to full-time hours if desired.

Salary:
£28/hour teaching + performance-based bonus structure available with experience
£15/hour during 2 day training
£15/hour for meetings and admin/allotted lesson prep time

About Burntisland Piano School:
BPS is a brand new creative business delivering high quality small group and individual piano tuition in Burntisland and the surrounding areas. Opening in April 2025, the school has had a very successful opening and is attended by students from all across the county. Currently operating on Mondays, Fridays and Saturday mornings, we are looking for a highly capable piano teacher to deliver lessons across Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, term-time.

About the role of Music / Piano Teacher:
The ideal candidate for the role of Music / Piano Teacher will inspire students through delivering engaging piano lessons, fostering a love for music while developing students’ skills in performance, theory, and musicianship. This role requires a strong commitment to student development and the ability to create a positive learning environment. You should be enthusiastic, inspiring and engaged with your craft with an obvious affinity for communicating ideas and concepts, and sparking enthusiasm in students.

Our group lessons entail using a fun, gamified approach to teach musical concepts and theory, contrasted with one to one coaching at the pianos as well as playing as an ensemble. We are looking for a skilled pianist and communicator who is naturally well organised and is driven to support students’ ongoing flourishing within a group setting. Additionally, the Music / Piano Teacher will deliver tuition in a one to one setting for students.
