Job description

Job Title: Music Teacher

Location: Solihull

Salary: £190 - £210 (Depending on experience)

Start date: ASAP

We are seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and experienced Music Teacher to join our close-knit team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of our students.

We are looking for a teacher who has experience working with SEMH students. You will be working with students aged 7 - 16. The school caters for a wide range of special educational needs, including:

  • Attachment Difficulties
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder, including Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Dyspraxia
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Specific Learning Difficulties, e.g., Dyslexia
  • Speech and Language Disorder
  • Tourettes Syndrome

What You’ll Do
  1. Design and deliver engaging, individualized lesson plans that align with students' Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  2. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages communication, social interaction, and emotional growth.
  3. Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and teaching assistants, to ensure holistic support for each student.
  4. Use evidence-based teaching strategies, including TEACCH, PECS, and sensory integration techniques.
  5. Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to parents/carers and external professionals.
What We’re Looking For
  1. Qualifications: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent with a strong background in SEN.
  2. Experience: Proven track record of working with children with autism, preferably in a primary setting.
  3. Skills: Exceptional communication, adaptability, and the ability to build trust and rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
  4. Passion: A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children with autism.
  5. Creativity: The ability to think outside the box and tailor teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles.
