Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join our dynamic secondary school team from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire young musicians and contribute to our thriving music department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging music lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
  • Plan and implement creative curriculum content that develops students’ musical skills and appreciation
  • Support students in achieving their full potential in music theory, performance, and composition
  • Organize and participate in school concerts, performances, and musical events
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extra-curricular music activities
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment data

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Degree in Music or related subject
  • Experience teaching music at secondary level
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Excellent musical knowledge across multiple genres and styles
  • Ability to teach both practical and theoretical aspects of music
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience teaching BTEC Music qualifications would be a distinct advantage
  • Additional instrumental or vocal teaching qualifications
  • Experience with music technology and digital audio workstations
  • Knowledge of current examination specifications (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
  • Experience organising school performances and music events
