Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Teacher of Music, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and differentiated Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).

  • Ideally, deliver high-quality Key Stage 5 (A-Level) teaching in Music, inspiring students to achieve academic excellence and prepare for higher education or careers in the arts.

  • Inspire students to develop a strong understanding and passion for musical principles, theory, performance, and composition.

  • Utilise a variety of effective teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, fostering a creative and student-centred approach.

  • Assess student progress regularly, providing timely, constructive feedback and contributing to comprehensive student reports.

  • Contribute actively to the ongoing development of the Music curriculum and departmental resources, ensuring they remain current and engaging.

  • Participate in and, where appropriate, lead extracurricular music activities, including school concerts, productions, and ensembles, enriching the learning experience for all students.

  • Act as a form tutor, providing pastoral care and contributing positively to the wider life and ethos of the school community.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in Music at degree level or equivalent.

  • Proven experience teaching Music successfully across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 is essential.

  • Experience teaching Music effectively at Key Stage 5 (A-Level) is highly desirable.

  • A genuine passion for music and a profound commitment to inspiring the next generation of musicians and creative thinkers.

  • Excellent subject knowledge across the music curriculum, with the ability to teach a broad range of musical styles and disciplines.

  • A dynamic, adaptable, and innovative teaching style that fosters a love of learning and creativity.

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment.

  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, eager to contribute to a thriving department and school community.
