Job summary

St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Multi Academy Trust in Leicester is seeking a compassionate Music Support Assistant for English Martyrs' Catholic School. The role is permanent, 22.5 hours per week across 39 weeks, with an actual salary indicative of £25,989–£27,254 FTE.

You will support rehearsal setups, instrument care, timetabling, and help with concerts and whole-school music events, while maintaining the music library and assisting teachers.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week / 39 weeks per year (this would include support whole school events across the year)
Position: Permanent
Salary: £13,631.05-£14,294.54 pa (Actual Salary FTE £25,989-£27,254 pa)
Grade: Band 3 (Point 6-9)

Start Date: ASAP (Autumn Term 2026) Closing date: 9.00 am 24th August 2026 Interview date: W/c 7th September 2026

What You’ll Do:
  • Supporting the setup of rehearsal spaces, equipment, music stands and technical resources
  • Provide support for music concerts and school productions
  • Help maintain and manage our musical instruments, equipment and technology, arranging repairs where required
  • Coordinate with our Head of Music and Peripatetic Teachers for timetabling one-to-one lessons and small group sessions
  • Help shape the musical life of the school by supporting whole school events
  • Prepare and organise sheet music for rehearsals and performances
  • Manage and develop our extensive music library and catalogue of scores
  • General administration work as directed by the Head of Music and teachers
  • Support the department with timetabling of lessons and registration of students to those lessons
  • Fostering confidence and independence in learners
  • Collaborating with teachers to create an inclusive environment for all students who wish to enhance or build on their music skills
