City of Doncaster Council is seeking an enthusiastic Music Education Tutor to inspire children and young people through high-quality teaching across schools and community venues in Doncaster.

The role involves leading engaging music sessions, supporting progression, and contributing to wider music education initiatives. Flexible hours and part-time/job-share options are welcomed, with safeguarding as a priority.

Salary details:

Grade 8, 34,434 - 38,221 pro rata (pay award pending)

Contract Type:

Permanent, Term Time Plus 7 days, plus 3 days training and development.

Hours:

Various hours available

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Doncaster Music Service as we continue to develop high-quality music education opportunities for children and young people across the borough.

As a Music Education Tutor, you will play an important role in inspiring children and young people to develop their musical skills, creativity and confidence. Working across schools and community settings, you will deliver engaging and inclusive music education programmes that encourage participation, progression and enjoyment of music.

The role contributes directly to the ambitions of Doncaster Music Service, the South Yorkshire Music Hub and the wider Culture Strategy, helping to ensure that music education remains accessible, inclusive and aspirational for all learners.

Current Opportunities

• Guitar (25 hours 45 minutes)
• Guitar (13 hours 40 minutes)
• Guitar and Curriculum Delivery (29 hours 50 minutes)
• Brass (17 hours 30 minutes)
• Woodwind (13 hours 35 minutes)
• Vocal (15 hours 35 minutes)
• Piano (3 hours 40 minutes)

We welcome applications from candidates seeking either part-time or larger teaching commitments. The final allocation of hours will be discussed with successful candidates based on skills, experience and service requirements.

Duties include:

• Delivering high-quality music education programmes in schools and community settings.
• Teaching whole-class, small-group and instrumental or vocal sessions.
• Adapting teaching approaches to meet a range of ages, abilities and learning needs.
• Supporting progression routes from First Access and introductory learning through to more advanced study.
• Supporting performances, events and wider musical opportunities for children and young people.
• Maintaining records of pupil progress and contributing to service evaluation and improvement.
• Participating in professional development, quality assurance and service-wide activities.
• Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing, equality and inclusion in all aspects of delivery.
• Supporting the success and sustainability of the service through excellent customer relationships and delivery standards.

You will be an enthusiastic and skilled music educator with the ability to inspire children and young people through high-quality teaching and musical leadership.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

• Strong performance skills on their specialist instrument or voice.
• Experience of delivering music education in schools, community settings or similar environments.
• An understanding of inclusive teaching approaches.
• A commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people.
• The ability to work effectively with schools, partners, colleagues and families.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A willingness to contribute positively to the wider development of Doncaster Music Service.
