Music Content Operations Lead / Music Distribution Specialist (Including African Music)

London based Hybrid working 3 days in office

12 month contract initially

Seeking an experienced Music Content Operations Lead / Music Distribution Specialist with expertise in African Music Artists and global African Music Distribution. This role involves working for an international record label / Music Label / Artist Services / Music Distribution company based in London, focusing on distribution, rights management, artist support, and technical workflows to distribute and promote music across major digital platforms.

The candidate should be proactive and strategic, capable of systematizing processes, and work closely with artists, technical, marketing, and legal teams to plan and execute releases seamlessly. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact a critical and evolving area of music distribution.

Key experience and Qualifications

• 5-7 years of operational experience in a reputable music label, responsible for release management, with African music distribution experience.
• Deep knowledge of African music genres, Hip-Hop, Pop, Soul/R&B.
• Strong project management skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
• Technical savvy with digital music distribution tools like Fuga, and understanding of metadata, workflows, and systems.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of Apple, Spotify, TikTok, Meta, YouTube, and their metadata specifications; YouTube Certification is a plus.
• Experience working with product and engineering teams on requirements and quality assurance.
• Proven ability to handle complex, large-scale, international projects under tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to present effectively at all organizational levels.
• Resilient under pressure, capable of managing stakeholder expectations and support queries.
• Attention to detail with a strategic overview, adaptable and calm in challenging situations.
• Data-driven with experience using Excel, Numbers, Tableau, or similar tools.

Responsibilities include:

• Onboarding new artists and managing release campaigns.
• Ensuring timely and accurate release processes, metadata, and deliverables across DSPs and licensors.
• Managing operational relationships with distribution partners.
• Supporting artists while adhering to platform requirements.
• Handling artist rights and UGC claims on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Meta.
• Collaborating with legal, tax, policy, support teams on new features and platform optimization.
• Overseeing testing and feedback on new platform features, pushing for continuous improvement.
