Job Description

Unlock Your Potential: At Sing Education, we're not just looking for musicians; we're in search of inspiration. If you're a passionate musician with a degree in music or a related field, such as musical theatre or music education, and you're eager to share the transformative power of music with the next generation, you might just be the perfect fit for our team.

What Sets Us Apart: Sing Education stands at the forefront of music education. We're committed to sourcing and training the finest music teachers and developing cutting-edge teaching resources. Our mission is to inspire every child with the joy and transformative power of music, creating collective harmony both in and beyond the classroom.

Requirements
  • Availability: We're looking for musicians who can offer their time and talent for short-term and long-term cover assignments, Monday-Friday, during term time, from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm. Flexibility to accept assignments on short notice (informed by 7.30 am or the afternoon before, wherever possible) and to pre-book cover dates is essential.
  • Certification: All applicants must possess or be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, facilitated by Sing Education, to ensure our commitment to child safety and trust.
  • The Teaching: You'll deliver our signature singing-led, whole-class curriculum music lessons from Nursery to Year 6, utilising cover lesson plans provided by Sing Education. Your role also includes conducting singing assemblies and leading choirs and clubs, with plans provided for seamless execution.
  • Communication & Collaboration: A successful cover day concludes with a brief handover to the Sing Education admin team. Professional and clear communication is vital, as you'll be representing Sing Education within our partner schools. Moreover, your journey begins with engaging in our comprehensive team training and induction sessions, including online and in-person training, to fully integrate into the Sing Education ethos.
Benefits
  • Standard Day: £140 per cover day (8.30am - 3.30pm)
  • Club Day: £160 per day for any assignment that includes a before or after-school club (starting at 7:30am OR finishing at 4:30pm)
  • Winter Bonus Scheme: To acknowledge the challenges of last-minute assignments during the colder months, a £25 bonus is added to your daily rate for same-day shifts accepted during November to February.
Additional Requirements
  • Qualifications: University graduate with a degree in music or a related field
  • Skills and Knowledge: Strong vocal skills, excellent command of English, ability to conduct whole-class lessons, basic keyboard proficiency, understanding of the National Curriculum for music, proficient with ICT and online systems such as G Suite

  • Personal Attributes: Passion for music, strong classroom management, effective collaboration, confidentiality, enthusiasm, organization, communication skills, commitment to development
